Bamboo structures can be built in any climate. Though most often used as an alternative to timber, bamboo has an underground rhizome root system that continually regenerates the plant when the stalks are cut. It’s the world’s fastest growing plant; growing as much as 4 feet in a single day. It also produces 35 percent more oxygen from carbon dioxide than trees and more effectively binds soil to prevent erosion.
